International Pricing

Pricing of our international services depends on the size/weight, destination/origin of the item and which particular service you'll require. Follow the steps below to see how the cost of your consignment is calculated.

The cost of a shipment is calculated on your item's:

• Volumetric weight
• Destination / origin
• Type: document (express) or non-document (express or economy)
• Plus Variable Fuel Factor and any optional additional services costs

Check these details for your item and calculate the cost using our steps below. If no service is selected the International Express Service will be provided and invoiced.

1. Volumetric weight

The Volumetric Weight may be different from the actual weight of your item – charges are based on whichever is the greater of the two.

a. Calculating Volume

Length (m) x Width (m) x Height (m) = Volume (m3) Use the following calculation A x B x C = m3e.g. 0.3 x 0.3 x 0.5 = 0.045m3 Use the following calculation A x A x C = m3e.g. 0.3 x 0.3 x 0.5 = 0.045m3

b. Calculating volumetric weight

 Commercial PostalVolume (m3) x 167 = Volumetric weight (kgs)e.g. 0.045 x 167 = 7.52 kg CourierVolume (m3) x 200 = Volumetric weight (kgs)e.g. 0.045 x 200 = 9 kg

If you were sending a courier consignment and the item's actual weight was 6kg, then the above volumetric weight of 9kg would be used to calculate the cost.

If the item's actual weight were 15kg, then the cost would be calculated using the actual weight of 15kg because it is greater than the 9kg volumetric weight. The weight of your item is noted (whichever is greater: volumetric or actual).

2. Destination and type

The rate for calculating the cost to send is varied according to which zone the country you are sending to is in and what type of item you are sending. Please refer to your New Zealand Couriers international pricing matrix or call our international help desk on 0800 655 010 for a quote. Freight price is calculated from the weight of the item at the relevant zone rate.Freight price (\$) = Weight (kg) x Rate (\$).

3. Variable Fuel Factor

Prices are not inclusive of our Variable Fuel Factor – read about our VFF or check the latest rate here.

Total Freight Price = Freight Price + (Freight Price x VFF) The VFF is added to your freight price. Please refer to our International VFF table for the current figure. Costs for any additional services are added to your freight price.
